The Absence
by Neva Hutchinson
with

Clint McKay (Dry Creek Pomo, Wappo and Wintun) and Jack Kohler (Hupa, Yurok, Karuk), collaborators.

Neva embarks on a powerful and moving journey to uncover the truth behind the brutal murders of two young Pomo Indian women on Route 162 in Northern California.

Guided by her mentor, renowned playwright Anthony Clarvoe, Neva delves deep into the dark and painful past of the Pomo people, uncovering secrets that have been buried for far too long.

Her new play, "The Absence", is not only a poignant reminder of the atrocities of the past, but also a call to action for present-day justice and healing. This powerful full-length play is for anyone seeking to understand and honor the legacy of the Pomo people.

Betty and Edith and Sue

Written by Tony Sciullo
Directed by Neva Hutchinson

Betty, Edith, and Sue are lifelong friends who share the same godmother. When they decide to surprise her with a 90th birthday party, the memories that shaped their relationships are dredged up, creating brand new challenges to the friendships that have lasted decades. Playwright Tony Sciullo wrote this play about the many strong and independent women who ruled his neighborhood when he was growing up. He credits their strength and guidance for helping to hold his community together through bad times and good.

Neva will be directing a mainstage production at Raven Performing Arts Theater.
Performances: November 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 2023.
